What is cashmere?

Cashmere is one of the finest natural fibers in the world. It comes from the soft undercoat of the cashmere goat and is characterized by its lightness, warmth, and exceptional softness.

Why does cashmere feel so soft?

Cashmere fibers are particularly fine and smooth. This prevents chafing on the skin – even sensitive skin tolerates cashmere very well.

Why doesn't cashmere itch, unlike regular wool?

Regular wool fibers are thicker and have a rougher surface. Cashmere fibers, on the other hand, are extremely fine and supple, which is why they feel soft and don't itch.

What does 100% cashmere mean and why is it important?

Pure cashmere consists exclusively of cashmere fibers, without any additives. It is softer, warmer, and more durable than blended materials. The difference is noticeable.

Does cashmere really provide better warmth than wool?

Yes. Cashmere fibers are hollow and retain heat very efficiently. A lightweight cashmere sweater can provide more warmth than a thick, heavy wool sweater.

Why are high-quality cashmere products so light?

Cashmere insulates so well that it doesn't require much material to keep you warm. Lightness is therefore a sign of quality – not an indication of inferior quality.

What does "Brushed Cashmere" mean?

Brushed cashmere is gently brushed after the knitting process, which causes the fine fibers to stand up. The result is a particularly soft, slightly fluffy surface with a very pleasant feel.

Is cashmere suitable for sensitive skin?

Yes. Thanks to its smooth, fine fibers, it feels soft and doesn't irritate the skin. Many people who are allergic to wool find cashmere pleasant.

How do you properly care for cashmere products?

Cashmere should be washed on a wool cycle or by hand and dried flat. A mild wool detergent is sufficient. Light pilling can be carefully removed.

Does cashmere pill?

A little pilling is normal, especially at first. The loose fibers can be gently removed. With each wash and each wear, cashmere becomes more stable and softer.

Is cashmere sustainable?

High-quality cashmere is produced by combing out the undercoat, not by shearing. Responsible producers prioritize animal welfare and sustainable grazing practices. Cashmere's durability also makes it particularly resource-efficient. Our partners are exclusively GCS (Good Cashmere) members.

I've seen it cheaper elsewhere!

Inexpensive products often contain only small amounts of cashmere or very short, low-quality fibers. Pure cashmere with long fibers is significantly softer, more durable, and of higher quality – and correspondingly more valuable and expensive to produce.

Can I wear cashmere in the summer?

Yes. Cashmere is temperature-regulating. It warms you in cold weather and feels pleasantly light in milder temperatures. Therefore, cashmere pieces are also ideal for spring and cooler summer evenings.
